Top tech gifts for Christmas and Winter Sales
Smart Watches
The Apple Watch 2 is the perfect companion to any Apple iPhone user (requires an iPhone 5 or later). Read all your notifications like Text messages, Emails and missed calls just by looking at your wrist.
The Apple Watch 2 is also expandable with additional apps and comes with a large choice of different wrist straps (in terms of colours, materials and price). The Apple Watch 2 is also now waterproof, ideal for those who love swimming, but it does fall a little short on its battery life of only a couple of days. The original Apple Watch is also still currently available.
The latest smartwatch by Fitbit focuses more on fitness tracking and is the perfect gift for those more energetic people. With its 5-day battery life and it’s “remind to move” feature, it is surely going to help you meet your fitness goals.
You can read your phone's notification like Text messages, Emails, and Calls but this smartwatch does lack the expandability and advanced features that the Apple Watch 2 provides.
The TomTom RUNNER is a fitness watch aimed at those who love running. It has a built in GPS feature and a battery life of up to 3 weeks.
The Fitbit and Apple Watch 2 also have connected GPS, but you have to have your smartphone connected via Bluetooth for this to work. The TomTom RUNNER is also waterproof, allowing you to swim whilst wearing your watch.
For the 'Big Kids'
The first gaming console that can play games at 4K, although with some games this is because of upscaling (which isn't true 4k). However PlayStation4 Pro doesn’t support 4K Blu-ray video playback. Even at 1080p, the PlayStation4 Pro can offer better graphics, higher frame rates but this is all dependant on the games' developers.
The updated Xbox One S is a little smaller and a little more powerful. It supports 4K Blu-ray video playback but it’s not powerful enough to support 4K gaming like the PS4. It also has a integrated power supply and comes with up to 1TB of storage space.
In our opinion, possibly the best gaming console released this year but this could just be us showing our age! The Nintendo Classic provides 30 classic games from the Nintendo generation like Mario, Donkey Kong and PAC-MAN. It comes with one mini NES controller and you can purchase a second controller for some multiplayer action. The perfect gift for anyone who has fond memories of Mario and Zelda.
For the 'Little Kids'
Now for the newest toy which is sweeping across the nation. Hatchimal is a robotic cuddly toy that hatches out of its own egg. Once hatched, the Hatchimal will interact with your children in a very similar way to a Furby. Unfortunately, the hatching process is a one-time only experience so make sure your children don’t miss it or you may find yourself buying another one!
The Vtec Kidizoom could be your child’s first smartwatch. Looking at the online reviews of this product, this could be great for kids trying to learn how to tell the time. The Vtec Kidizoom has a choice of an analogue and a digital clock which will also read out the time at a push of a button. It also has a camera, games and additional features like a stopwatch and alarms.
