This App Is Just What Is Needed To Make Choice

It used to be so simple deciding how to spend a square eyed evening on the sofa when all we had to do was to flick through the Radio Times and, failing that, make a trip to Blockbuster.

Now we have massive competition for our onscreen attention, with a wider than ever choice of live TV alongside a substantial selection of programmes on catchup channels. When all of these fail to excite, it takes just seconds to rent and stream a film or even to purchase and binge on box set TV series.

But when it comes to purchasing entertainment online there is now also a bewildering choice of over a dozen sources to consider buying from, some of which are subscription channels, others of which are not.

Help is at hand from JustWatch, an app that keeps tabs on the available catalogues and tells you where each film or box set can be purchased at what price.

It can tell you, just as an example, that the popular classic movie Back to the Future is available to rent from six sources at prices ranging from £2.49 to £4.45 or to buy from as little as £6.99 or as much as £11.99.

This popular app also has some other handy features, including Price Drops, which lists occasional bargains offered by providers, and Watch Lists, which allows you to make a personal list of the shows and films which you want to see.

It can also inform you about new releases arriving into a provider’s catalogue.

JustWatch is available for Android and iOS devices. There is also a web version at www.justwatch.com/uk.
