Tablets Could Be The Answer To Half Term Headache For Parents

Half term is upon us and, for parents the unenviable challenge of keeping the kids occupied when the days are short and the weather outdoors may be less than inviting.
It could be time to give the tablets to the tiddlers and tweenies and point them at Apps that combine fun with a little education.
For pre-school toddlers and infants, there are the free Endless Alphabet and Endless Reader Apps, much praised for developing a grasp of letters and the meaning and spelling of words.
For junior schoolers, Doodle Maths is a free download, much enjoyed by the kids and highly applauded by the parents.
It is designed to boost skill and confidence when it comes to the sums.
To add variety, Marble Math Multiplication is another free App which poses mental arithmetic challenges to be cracked while steering a virtual marble through a maze.
For those who have cracked the maths, it is time to move on to evolve programming skills and help is at hand from Tynker. This free App teaches the basic of loops and logic through puzzles and interesting games.
It also encourages the more adventurous to start programming their own games.
If you do not mind a bit of noise, or have headphones at the ready, then Magic Piano is a good free App for starting to learn music in a fun way.
Tunes from Lady Gaga to Beethoven can be played on screen by following the notes and, of course, there is the inevitable option to purely play that piano freestyle.
Just because school is out for the week, there is no reason for the learning to stop.
