Google’s Time Management App Is Starting To Sound A Tad Orwellian…
It would appear that Google has aspirations to take over our lives, literally!
At least, that is the conclusion we might draw from its purchase of another software outfit.
Timeful is an increasingly popular time management App.
It does more, though, than be an electronic Filofax.
It boasts’ intelligent assistance to make the most of your time’ and some users seem to appreciate functions that offer to ‘schedule your day for you’ because it ‘knows how to squeeze all your to-do chores in your busy calendar.’
It is relatively new on the scene, launched on Apple only in July last year and not yet ported to Android or any other platforms.
Now, we can expect to hear far more of it because Google issued a statement last week that ‘we are excited to announce that ‘Timeful is joining the Google family to help make getting things done in your life even easier.’
It has apparently been swallowed up to form part of Google’s revamp of its owe Calendar.
Does this, though, sound as if it might have a slightly sinister edge?
It is one thing for a stand-alone App to do a bit of helpful behind the scene simulation of fixed appointments in someone’s day, alongside other stuff that they would like to squeeze in, and play electronic personal assistant.
It might be another, however, for an electronic giant which already clocks your web browsing interests, takes every opportunity to track your location and chooses what adverts you get bombarded with to start planning how you spend your time.
At what point, do we think, could it start to sound a tad Orwellian?
