Evernote Goes Into Reverse With Hybrid

We might think that spiral notebooks and pens are marching alongside their posh cousin Filofax, towards the door marked ‘Museum Pieces.’
The rise of the tablet has been matched by a decline in handwritten note taking.
Only cases of exhaustion of the right index finger and generally slow typing speeds hold back a complete swing to the electronic approach.

Yet now, somewhat unbelievably, the nation’s favourite electronic notepad and filing app, Evernote, has shot into reverse gear and added a hybrid manual/electronic note taking range.

In Collaboration with Italian premium quality sketchbook maker Moleskine, it has produced ‘Evernote ruled’ and ‘Evernote squared’ paper notepads.
These come in two sizes, a 240 sheet large edition, at a size approaching A5, and a 192 page pocket version.
They all have markings which are used by the Evernote Page Camera App, for iOs and Android, to help tablets and phones take perfect scans of each handwritten page, with optimised contrast and any skew corrected.
Add and Evernote Smart Sticker to the sheet of paper first, and it will have the correct tagging for the electronic filing system.

As paper notebooks go, they are rather expensive at £12 and upwards from Internet based sellers, although three months of Evernote Premium come free with them for those who want it.
With a big thumbs up from early users, frequent note takers, from executive meeting room veterans to those taking root in student lectures theatres, might find the improved work flow on offer very welcome.

For more details, search Google for Evernote Moleskine. And, no, despite the name, they are not actually bound in the hide of Jasper Carrot’s furry nemesis!
