'Oh my God, you haven't re-started your machine for a week!' laughed Chris, one of our PC Engineers, who had just looked at my task manager.
Re-starting PCs regularly is the Holy Grail of keeping a PC in good working order,
but I just hate doing it! I now have a bit of a repuation in the office
as 'The Tab Queen' as I usually have, well let's count them, 11 tabs in Google Chrome, 20 in Firefox and 1 in IE, open at once. I first started using multiple browsers when I have to manage multiple accounts of Facebook, blogs etc. Once you have a browser open it's so easy just to keep adding new tabs!
Then there are the applications which I'm quite light on at the moment, at just 3, there are usually more.
Now the guys in the office always laugh when they see this as they know just how 'bad' this is for my PC. Yes I know I need the updates and it will make my PC run better etc. Then of course there's the saving of power! But my tabs and my open files act as my memory! Thank-God for the save and quit features now in browsers!
I'm usually working on so many things at once, if I shut down are restart and can't restore my sessions I'm totally lost! Restarting my machine is a major event. Maybe I'll be good and start doing it every day - perhaps in the new year?
