In it's wisdom, Microsoft has decided not to include an email program in the new Windows 7. This won't affect users who have Google Mail or Hotmail accounts, but those who use Windows Mail in Vista (or Outlook Express in XP) will be stuck.
However, there is a solution: Microsoft have recently revamped their Windows Live service, where users can download goodies such has Movie Maker, Mail and Messenger.
Microsoft's strategy is for people to use more web based applications, essentially becoming released from having their data installed on just one computer, but now be accessible from any computer or mobile device which is connected to the internet.
Most people are probably already familiar with Google's services (e.g. Google Apps and Google Docs) and this appears to be Microsoft's take on hosted software.
