Forecast is worth a punt
We have certainly had some rain this winter, even though the Midlands has got off comparatively lightly. I have found myself checking forecast more frequently than ever. Since December, though, I have been using a new app. There are a host of free Weather Apps for popular phones and tablets.
The BBC have put much thought into its efforts and that has been widely downloaded since it joined the fray, rather belatedly, last summer. The Met Office, AccuWeather and WeatherBug all continue to be popular, although it is concerning that they rarely agree the beyond a day or two. However, when they give a forecast for the next hour or two, they are worse than woolly. So, I have switched to Forecast.io to give me the immediate picture and help dodge the heavy showers that have been too prevalent in recent weeks.
Forecast.io is not available from an App store, it downloads from the net at https://forecast.io. It finds out where you are and gives you a weather map showing where the rain has been in the last three hours and where it will be for the next hour. At the time of writing, there are blue skies above. But, forecast.io shows a shower cloud tracking roughly east north east. An hour ago it was dampening Worcester. It is currently drenching Bromsgrove and is forecast drizzle starting from Solihull in 40 minutes.
Fine, then, to dash out for a lunchtime sandwich while it is dry and sign off when I return… And rain it did, albeit a quarter of an hour later than had been threatened by the forecast. Take a look at Forecast.io, it is worth a punt.
