Fun ways for all the family to have an 'Appy Xmas...

Here is a small selection of the most popular smartphone and tablet apps available to provide a bit of seasonal fun for the family over the Christmas season.

First up is Google Santa Tracker. It gives a countdown to the start of Santa's Christmas night journey around the world and then lets you follow him with Google Maps. Furthermore whilst waiting for Santa, there are some games to be played.

The Christmas Radio App gives instant streaming of over 50 seasonal Internet radio stations, all playing nothing but Christmas tunes, some of them themed to particular musical styles. Choose between stations like North Pole Radio, Kristmas Kountry, Jazz Radio Christmas and more.

Angry Birds Seasons helps you celebrate different festive occasions from around the world with different versions of the original game. For Christmas, the stroppy avians are supplanted by Santa hats, decorations and wrapped presents around snowy and dusty backgrounds to get you in the festive spirit. This one does cost a few pennies.

Gift Wrapping Instant Expert will also set you back under a quid, but is ideal for those who find a tidy present a challenge. Download this and you will be able to make bows, gift baskets and your own custom gift tags as well as fold the paper cleanly.

Finally, how about this? Apple is giving away stuff! Download the '12 days of Christmas' app for iOS devices and you get a daily gift from Boxing Day to Epiphany. Gifts might be other apps, ebooks, films, music tracks other stuff from the Apple Store.

Meanwhile, it is time to wish you all a 'Appy Christmas!!
