After 18 months of unemployment following his redundancy working as a mechanical and electrical inspector, Jim Warburton has become the new local PC PAL Engineer, servicing and repairing computers and laptops in homes and businesses around the South Manchester area.
Jim, who lives in the Withington area of Manchester, was made redundant after 15 years in the construction industry.
“After I lost my job I tried to secure further employment every day…but with no real luck whatsoever. My local Job Centre then told me about a seminar explaining the possibilities of franchising, which was being held by FranchisingWorks, an organization who give advice, information and practical support about getting into franchising. Following a good deal of research into several franchise businesses, I finally decided the PC PAL model was the best match for me. I have always been interested in computers so PC PAL stood out from the rest. The PC PAL franchise has been vetted by several banks and lending mediums. It was also endorsed by FranchisingWorks in the format of £10,000 funding along with my own capital investment which enabled me to invest in my own PC PAL Franchise business".
Jim went through rigorous training before launching the business and is now a qualified Microsoft Certified Professional and also has the CompTIA A+ Certification for hardware.
“I was nervous about whether I would pass the exams or not when I started but those fears soon vanished with the support I received from the PC PAL Head Office training team. As a mobile engineer I also carry a comprehensive range of spare parts and diagnostic tools. This means I can fix most problems on the spot in the customer’s home or office, which reduces the inconvenience to them of having to move the PC to another location".
Jim is looking forward to the challenge of building a successful business and providing an excellent and much-in-demand service in the local community.
