We wrote and article a little while ago regarding John Savage, PC PAL engineer for the Bath and Bristol East region. John has been training long and hard for a 24-hour bike marathon on the 7th June 2012 in aid of charity Jamie's Farm.
Here is John's latest update on his training regime!
John Savage, PC PAL Bristol East and Bath
I've been training hard since my last post and did a 12-hour event at Bristol Bikefest held at Ashton Court, Bristol on Saturday 9thJune, to test myself for the 24 hour event in July.
The previous week had been wet and windy (usual June weather) and so it was great to have the sun shining on race day, albeit with a strong gusty wind. I entered the 12 hour solo race in the Old Gits category (yes it is really called that and is for over 40’s) and came 13th out of 30, overall 33rd out of 85 soloists, well pleased with that, my lap times were fairly consistent and although knackered at the end I enjoyed it, in a masochistic sort of way.
